Background:This study aims to explore the impact of reimbursement of prescription erectile dysfunction medication on the treatment outcome of patients with erectile dysfunction (ED).
Methods:A cross-sectional observational study was conducted in the National Surgical Centre (NSC) of the Department of Pathology, Urology and Rheumatology, Department of Urology, University of São Paulo (USP).
Results:A total of 3,743 patients with ED and an average age of 64.3 years (SD of 39.2 years) were enrolled, with 1,948 patients with ED, who received a prescription for a medication that is reimbursed with a total of 531 prescriptions, with a mean of 63.1 months (SD of 36.1 months) of prescription ED medication. The mean duration of prescription ED medication was 4.8 months (SD of 3.3 months) for prescriptions for tadalafil (n=2,831), Cialis (n=2,831), and Adcirca (n=2,831) tablets, with an average of 6.7 months (SD of 2.8) for prescriptions for Cialis tablets and 5.4 months (SD of 2.3) for Cialis tablets, and the mean duration of prescriptions for Cialis medication was 3.5 months (SD of 2.6) and 5.7 months (SD of 2.6), respectively. The median duration of the prescription ED medication was 2.5 months (SD of 2.2).
Conclusions:A significant proportion of patients were prescribed erectile dysfunction medication for an average of 4.8 months (SD of 2.2) of prescription ED medication, with a mean of 7.1 months (SD of 2.3) of prescription ED medication, which is consistent with the results of previous studies of patients with ED. The current study suggests that reimbursement of prescription ED medication is associated with an increased benefit for patients with erectile dysfunction.

Health authorities in several key U. S. states are waging a battle against generic versions of erectile dysfunction drugs, including Tadalafil, the brand name for the active ingredient in Cialis.
Back in the 90s, before people began talking about using generic drugs, they might have considered taking a cheaper brand-name version, but that switch wasn’t for as long.
Over the last decade, the cost of generic drugs has risen dramatically, particularly in states with lower patent expiration dates. In 2014, for example, the price of generic Cialis, the active ingredient in Levitra, jumped to nearly $100 a pill from just under $4 a pill.
In fact, as many as one in four men in the U. suffers from erectile dysfunction, and about one in three of those men will die during their lifetimes.
The biggest worry for men grappling with erectile dysfunction is that the cost of erectile dysfunction drugs has risen dramatically.
“We’ve already seen the impact of generic erectile dysfunction drugs on men’s lives,” said Dr. Adam Friedman, chair of men’s health at theAmericansLos Angeles Medical Center. “This can be a huge deterrent for people who are trying to sustain a healthy sex life.”
The agency released a statement saying that the FDA has seen a marked rise in generic Cialis and its generic equivalent, tadalafil, in recent years. This is due in part to the arrival of generic versions of Cialis in the U. S., as well as the expiration of patents for the active ingredient in Levitra.
The FDA also warned that the FDA has spent millions of dollars on research to determine the best time to test the new drug. The agency also stated that its warning about the risk of side effects from generic Cialis has been met with skepticism.
Both tadalafil and Cialis are available as pills, but generic versions are more expensive and are not yet widely available.
